Skiing Holidays

The ski resort of Passo Lanciano (Majelletta skiing district) in the heart of the Majella National Park, is one of 16 ski resorts in the Abruzzo region. The resort is approximately 30 minutes drive from Agriturismo Montupoli.

The district is divided into two resorts: Passo Lanciano (1300 to 1650 m), with trails unwinding in a wonderful Beechwood, and the Majelletta (1650 to 2000 m), with an equipped snow park and large snowfields for carving (snowboarding), cross-country skiing and ski mountaineering.

From the downhill run of Passo Lanciano on a clear day it is possible to see the sea. The resort has a nursery slope for novices and young skiers where skiing courses are available. There are also facilities for ski equipment hire.

In the higher climbs, skiing is possible from December until April. Many of the resorts are equipped with snowmaking machines. Cross-country skiers will find a large number of trails in the National Parks such as Macchiarvana and Gran Sasso National Parks.

The Tourist Office has published a free guide in English in which the various routes are described in detail. More advanced skiers can try out exciting ski trails away from the beaten path.
